Hi-
I'm new at this.
When I'm downloading microsoft updates (SP2) do I have to turn off my firewall, spyware and anti-virus programs?
Many thanks for the Reply

No!
Never turn off your security when updating something even if it's a Microsoft update.

Melvin, first, welcome to Wilders! Seer is 100% correct; never, EVER, turn off your security programs. Here's some info for you to review regarding Updates in Vista & XP plus FAQs:

While I agree 100% with never turning off your security when updating, depending on your security, you may go click happy  while they are installing.
At least on my tower I do. Your experience may\will vary depending on your protection set-up. ::)
