On my computer with Eset SMart Security enabled is running service
Machine Debug Manager
"C:\Program Files\Common Files\Microsoft Shared\VS7DEBUG\MDM.EXE"
Supports local and remote debugging for Visual Studio and script debuggers. If this service is stopped, the debuggers will not function properly.

I haven't installed Visual studio.

Is this a new smart virus or this service somehow
is cooperating with Eset Smart Security?

with regards
Globus

No, it's not any smart virus. It's stuff installed among others with Microsoft Office. Completely safe to disable.

Well, I'm completely sure that MS Office has been installing this for ages (http://support.microsoft.com/kb/321410).

I'm not completly sure now that it wasn't uninstalled with Office 2000
but I'm still completly sure that this service was not running.

Have you ever seen malware that used this service?

Uhm...

- this service has nothing to do with ESS and isn't used by it in any way whatsoever
- it's installed with MS software (Office is just one example)
- it's useless resource hog unless you are debugging, so disable it and move on
- really don't see what would malware use it for

This is a legitimate file and service, no virus. If you want more information, you should move the debate to some MS-related forums on programming. ;)
