Quotes:

Effective February 13th 2004, VCOM is unable to provide AntiVirus update pattern files to SystemSuite and Fix-It Utilities versions 3 and 4.

Changes to the AntiVirus engine provided by Trend Micro necessitated a new pattern file formatting from Trend Micro. This was done to enhance the security and effectiveness of the AntiVirus application. Unfortunately this means that users of Fix-It and SystemSuite version 4.0 can no longer utilize these pattern files.

Both SystemSuite 5 and Fix-It Utilities 5 include this new AntiVirus engine.

Yeah, in other words, "What a great way to get users to upgrade to the new version!" Funny how Trend Micro updated the engine for its PC-cillin line of products, including legacy versions, and made the update available the same way it makes signature updates available--automatically.

The update involves just replacing three driver files--the anti-virus pre- and post-filter drivers, and one supporting driver. Vcom is totally full of it for saying they can't provide a simple update for existing users.
