Is there a case possible when computer reboots with no reason because of LnS loaded?

Hi guys,

past time I am experiencing troubles with my licensed Windows XP because it reboots with no obvious reason and no definite time. Nothing is saved in logs by this time. I've checked my PC for viruses and spyware, disk utility and memory check tools, every possible case I was able to find online... and today I've noticed the computer was under reboot while it was in stand-by mode, where none other programs were running except LnS.

There is nothing to claim regarding it, but anyway, I'm just curious to know - is there a way to get some kind of a packet from Internet to kill the OS that way, or maybe LnS could compromise that itself?

I guess the rebooting comes from Windows itself and it's not related to an external factor such as an "attack" from Internet...

1) Check in the system logs (application and system) for error and warning messages:

Start | run | eventvwr.msc (or Start | run | mmc ... and add eventvwr.msc to a personalised console...)

2) Check the behaviour of Windows when a fatal error is founded:
Start | Control Panel | System | "advanced" tab | check in the third choice "Startup..."

You have the choice between an automatic reboot in case of error or a Blue Screen of The Death...

3) This error may be related with LnS if there is some driver conflict for example...

With your next post give us the error number such as STOP 0x0 blah blah blah
and the other informations with this error number. In the event logd you can find the full text.
Just copy it and paste it here (if related to LnS).

Climenole, THANK YOU man! I learned earlier about what you mentioned under #2, it didn't help. Computer just reboots, there is no blue screen or something to catch.

However this info under #1 is VERY useful. Truly I didn't even know such thing exists. Now I see there is a lot of sh*t conflicting on my PC which I didn't even suspected, incl. buggy ATI Drivers and some other stuff. Luckily, I don't see LnS there, so I will work out the other software with no disturbing you again.

About the events log:

The two most important informations are the Source and the ID.
For each event there is a link to a Useless MS web site...

1) The best place to find usefull informations is at this site:

Event Id (http://www.eventid.net/)

There are some informations available even you don't pay the subscription...

2) It's possible to replace the useless link in the eventviewer by an other to the EventId web site

Climenole: thanks again! I suppose I found the problem, at least I don't see it repeating for few days already... and it was related to old and buggy ATI drivers. When Windows rebooted again, I just analyzed the log and the last event there was ATI conflicting with the monitor. I updated the drivers and now it seems to work. I guess it was the real reason!

LnS is perfect as well as its support team! Keep it clean and fast. Worth buying the license as I did some time ago! Cheers!
