Its a reason to stay away from anything from the NSA like the hash Algorithm SHA-512.

The NSA haven't created the hash algorithms, they just limit what the public has access to in commercial products, limiting it to what they can crack in a short amount of time. They are heavily involved in the public encryption standards that get set, ansi.

If you want, just write you're own with the largest Marsene prime number. That would be uncrackable in the near future. But, how long would it take to encrypt the data. Then you still have the problem of key exchange.

What do you mean by cracking a hash algorithm? Finding collisions?
Or maybe you were talking about encryption algorithms? This means that, in your opinion, NSA could crack AES in a short amount of time?
