Tom-skype is a modified skype software in china which I'm never interested in.::)

If china can get into tom-skype, and from there into the rest of skype communications, you may be more interested.

I'm no expert so I'm not sure.But
1.I think Tom-skype is a modified software which might be under the control of the gov.So it might not encrypt any traffic any more.Maybe I misunderstand the phrase "broke into".
2.Skype is not pop in China,while another IM QQ is a dominating one here.They claim it encrypts traffic too,and I heard it's very safe.But if I'm told it's been broken into,I won't be surprised.Because it may be another software which is totally under the govenment's control.So they don't need to "break into",just grab what they want.;)

My thought is that they may be able to use the Tom-Skype portal as a point of entry into the main skype network, and use that access to monitor non-chinese traffic crossing skype.

Skype protocol supposedly uses AES, but who cares, we can't see how it is implemented so it isn't trustworthy.
