I was going through the list of programs in NIS 2009 Program Control. I found a listing that I'm not too sure about. It's OCSCtl.exe.

I did a search on Google and a couple of other search engines, and they all took me to the PrevX site. Basically it just says it has something to do with Symantec. I couldn't find anything else anywhere. I asked at the Norton forum, but haven't gotten a answer as to what it is.

Does anyone here know what OCSCtl.exe is? I have it Allowed in Program Control, but I'm thinking of removing it.

If you email the file to support@misec.net I can tell you what it is.

Why would you remove part of a program? Using a keygen or crack or something? I don't think that any offical company is after scary things when you install their software.

This is a legitimate Symantec file belonging to Norton Antivirus 2009. It's used for inventoring the different file versions of the NAV components. It's perfectly safe and nothing to worry about.
