SAS and MBAM will do the trick. Then tell him to only use Firefox with Ad Blocker Plus.

He's using IE 7 but I thought that would of been good enough, I mean I really dont think much of IE for start, but he uses it because you know its MS and not anything else.
Forgot to ask whats SAS ?

Too funny. SAS is in your sig and you don't know what it is. SAS = SuperAntiSpyware and MBAM = Malware Bytes Anti Malware. And never use IE period. I have my entire family trained to use Firefox.

Ok, silly me I honestly thought it was Super Anti Spyware.
I am a pro FF user myself, but I've mentioned it to him and because IE is made by MS he thinks that its 100% safe, totally wrong if you ask me.
Also forgot to add he rang his ISP (a company called iiNet here in Perth, Australia) and the guy he spoke to reccomended he used Adaware.

I suggested SAS as I use it myself and swear by it.
Used Adaware a long time ago, say 3 yrs but stopped it.

Word of Caution:
If anyone is hitting gambling sites on-line they are a prime candidate for more than just pop ups. But if the temptation is just too strong take advice above and persuade them to use FireFox w/no script and a good AV. Otherwise, the waters might just get murky enough eventually to bring the whole system to a screeching halt. Then it might be a lengthy process to fish out the bugs.

To add something to what the person above me said.
Using something similair to WOT or siteadvisor also will filter allot of bad sites out.
So use your brains and don't go to random sites!

Also switching to OpenDNS will help block many malicious sites, without user intervention or popups or color rating which some novice users tend to miss ( like my dad )

yes indeed, plus they have a black list parental control.
you could also add mvps host file for extra peace of mind.
