Trying to plan ahead and foresee problems.

If I take a backup of C: drive, then at a later date create another partition (on the fly) on that drive, will the restore of the C: drive work ok given that the drives size parameters and attributes will have changed. Does this sort of thing bother TI? or will it simply restore?

Obvious answer is to partitioon first then backup, but the partition can wait, the backup can't!

As long as the used space in the backup image can fit into the existing partition's space, it should work okay. Remember, you can restore just the partition or the entire disk. If you restore the entire disk, it will wipe out all existing partitions and replace them with what is in the backup image. What you would most likely want to do is just restore the C: partition.

If you do make any partitioning changes, be sure to create an Entire Disk Image backup first. There's always a chance something can go wrong.

OK. Yep, there's plenty space. Thanks for your thoughts
