Sorry about my original post about the Maxell DVD backup 'error' - seems as though my internal CD/DVD unit is not a DVD "Writable" unit (I never tried that function before) :-[

At Walmart I can buy a Sony DRX-840U External 20x DVD+/- RW Multi-Format Drive & DVD Burner for $80. I may go ahead and do that and then make a bootable DVD full backup.

Robert,

Put your $80 towards an internal or external HD instead. Once your backups get larger than one DVD you will wish you had never heard of that backup method. Restoring from multiple DVDs would have to be the most unreliable way to restore an image. Just read the sorry tales in backup forums.

Well, I do have an external USB hard drive - and I have made a full backup to that drive already (but have not attempted to made the ext. HD 'bootable'). Plus I have a full BU in the Acronis secure area on my internal HD (have not made the secure area 'active' tho). And I made a bootable CD to go along with the bootable CD that came in the box.

Just thought, can't have too many backups - and yes, my BU would exceed the typical 4.7GB of a DVD.

Be sure to try booting from the TI Rescue CD and validating the image on your externald drive. If you can't, you probably can't restore the backup.
