Hi,

We have coporate license for NOD32.

We installed NOD32 V3 on the AV server. All clients are configured to update from the server with http settings to the server.

I notice after installing V3 on the server, all clients with old version2 of NOD32 does not update from the server. It shows updated, but to the same version of updates.

I have rolled out the new client V3 for all domain users with GP. I also have users who are not in domain, for which i will need to install the new clients in all of them manually.

Please guide. Thanks in advance.

Hello!

{QUOTE-> I notice after installing V3 on the server, all clients with old version2 of NOD32 does not update from the server. It shows updated, but to the same version of updates <-QUOTE}

The reason is simple. NOD32 v3 and NOD32 v2 are technically different products and their updates and different , too . That is why v2 products cannot update from v3 product , simply because EAV v3.0 doesn't create Mirror for v2.

However , ESET Remote Administrator Server v2 can manage mixed environments and provide updates for both v2 and v3

Hi,

Thanks for reply.

So it means that i will have to uninstall V3 NOD32 AV from the server and install v2 ?
OR i have to unsinstall the RA only and re-install it ? I have RA 2.0.110 installed. Will that work or need RA 2.0.107 only ?
Then configure it to update both V3 and V2 clients ?

Please confirm. Thanks again.

Because you write that

I suspect your v2 workstations are configured to update from your local server like that (for example) :
http://local_IP:port
http://10.0.0.1:8081 (example)

In order not to change these settings , the best would be to :
1) Uninstall NOD32 v3 from the Server
2) Re-install NOD32 v2.70.39 LanUpdate edition on the Server and configure its Mirror so that it uses the same settings as it used before (so that v2 clients update successfully)
3) Install ESET Remote Administrator Console and ESET Remote Administrator Server v2 (build 2.0.110 is the latest version, I believe ; 2.0.107 is an older one)
4) Open ERAC -> goto "Tools -> Server options" and change the update options so that ERAS provides the updates for all your v3 workstations

Then , you'll have:

NOD32 LanUpdate server 2.70.39 protecting the server and providing the updates for workstations with v2
ESET RA Server and Console v2 - used for remote administration , used to provide updates for machines with v3
Mixed environment of machines with either v2.7 or v3.0

ERA can create the mirror for both v2 and v3 products. Given that it's already installed on the server, it doesn't matter whether you install v2 or v3 on the server, all you need to do is configure ERA properly to create 2 mirrors and configure the clients to update from them accordingly.
