Both eset.com (http://www.eset.com/download/home-64bit.php) and eset.co.uk (http://www.eset.co.uk/download/registered_software.php) only show v3.0.669 as the latest 64Bit version of ESS. Is this just an error on the website or has the download been pulled for X64 editions?

It simply takes time to update the version numbers, however, the links always point to the download servers with the latest versions.

Since 'updating' from 699 to 672, i've noticed the realtime scanner is far more active than before. After booting up, I have to wait over 5 minutes for things to settle down which is becoming a bit of a pain.
System start-up scan is not enabled via the scheduler.
Any ideas?

have been with eset for the past five years, while I was using only NOD32 couldn't been more hapier, everything went downhill since my change to ESS, waited and waited for Eset to fix never ending issues (compare message boards of other big and popular security companies to this one, - no one has so many compaints and software related issues like ESS, that speaks for it self) ...
I have another 6 days to renew my licence and I decided I will not.
Time to move on and spend my money on somethig that will not give me BSOD, update problems, install or uninstall problems etc .....
Bye all

I feel for you. I just had to deal with a Vista 32 BSOD (http://www.wilderssecurity.com/showthread.php?t=218803) using Depicus WOL and ESS 672. We've been with Nod32 since PC User raved about it over five years ago but the latest PC User issue on security suites skipped the ESET writeup. Makes me wonder if there was some drama that got swept under a rug? I've renewed all 25+ ESS licenses until 2011 so I'm in for the long haul. I would love to see them sort things out but the number of issues with ESS in the last seven months have seen me remove it from our Network and revert to EAV with which I have no current issues.
Now I'm left up a certain creek researching freeware firewalls so I can protect our Notebooks because I've had more than my three strikes with ESS.
EDIT: Comodo V3.0.25.378 and ESET EAV V3.0.672 are behaving perfectly so far. Zero issues. Nice!

Any idea why I cannot just update? This seems to happen with every new version. If I just update then something gets messed up and my real time protection gets disabled. I try to enable it and it says it is malfunctioning. I tried to repair and restart 3 times with no success. I had to totally uninstall and reinstall to get it to work.

Yes I have onlyever had one clean install and fed up with having to do the unistall reinstall thing.
I don't see many benefits to me in this release so I will wait until a major update presents it self as I don't need the practice and my present .699 version works fine

[Updated 9/17/08 to fix broken URL. AG]
Hello,
You can visit the ESET Software Antivirus Updates (formerly Support News) page at http://www.eset.com/support/news.php (http://www.eset.com/support/news.php) in your web browser to find out information about the latest versions of the software.
ESET is looking at adding some new notification methods in the future. What method(s) that would employ and when they would be implemented I could not say, though.

It has been several weeks now since ESET Smart Security v3.0.672 has been released and I'm still waiting for the Dutch language version. Hopefully it will be ready soon.

Hello everyone.
I updated some days ago to 672 and now everytime I boot, the real-time protection cannot initialize so I have to do it manually. Do I have to reinstall?

Well I was forced to update after my previous version started without cause to run my dual core at 100% on boot up.
And as every other time the install failed because a log file was locked resulting in having to turn off eset services and installing again.
It's getting to a point that I cringe whenever a new update from eset is posted, surely an installer that stops services before the install can't be that hard

Well you wouldn't really want a security program being that easy to shut down really :)

We've used EAV on a simple P2P XP Pro network the past year with no problems. We just upgraded to Eset SS .672 and are having all sorts of problems with our accounting (Peachtree) and customer contact (Goldmine) software.
The clients appear to be randomly losing the networked drives to the server (also XP Pro, not server OS). Or the clients just lock up. At this point, we are still trying to identify where the problem is.
We've removed Eset SS from the server and a few clients and they are now working properly.
Any suggestions?

Not sure if anyone else has posted this previously but since upgrading to v3.0.672 when i use firefox and start downloading anything the browser locks up dependent on file size for either 15secs to 1 minute... i checked my task manager and erkn at this time when browser locked up is using over 100,000k in mem usage and i have 2gb.
Only way to prevent this is to temp disable antivirus and spyware.

I have had serious issues with the ESS firewall before running on vista x64 and v.3.0.672 is no exception. On My mixed client LAN, the Vista clients connected to my Vista 64 PC which acts as a file server have serious issues reading and writing files. Writes are incredibly slow and for large files they eventually crash and stop in mid-copy. Disabling the firewall solves the problem which of course is not an ideal solution. The XP and Linux clients on the other hand are fine.

I too have this problem with ESS + Firefox 3.0.3. Since my machine is pretty old, I can't even open up task manager when it locks up too see whats causing it. But it does happen randomly, whether the file I'm downloading through Firefox is a couple kb or mb.
Also, another thing I noticed when upgrading to 3.0.672, when you have the 'Automatic real-time file system protection startup' option disabled and you reboot your machine. When ESS reloads up, it says under the 'Protection status' windows that the File-system monitor is malfunctioning. Not quite sure if this is a bug, or if the file-system monitor is "actually" malfunctioning.

The status "malfunctioning" appears if a driver is not loaded.

I'm throwing my issue in the ring:
Installed ESS trial and my PC just reboots. Once I remove it the problem starts. No issues with the NOD32. Want to tryout ESS however.

Hi
For what it's worth I've been using ESET smart suite for a year or so now. Both XP and Vista 64. No problems whatsoever, easy installs, upgrades and good protection. 3.0.672 installed over the previous version VERY easily.
Many happy customers won't bother to post....

What I meant to say was: "Once I uninstall ESS the problem stops."

Here's another "happy ESS user".
I have recently moved to ESS (672) from AVG plus Firewall. I had used AVG for many years without problems but since very launched v8 my PC has slowed down. To the extent that even opening folders seen to take ages (well, longer that it should) before the contents were shown.
I tried ESET ESS for a couple of weeks and found a VAST improvement. PC is back at full speed. Of course I completely uninstalled AVG before I installed ESS.
So far I am very happy.
I have a question about the command line scanner. I will ask that in the appropriate place.

I am running version 3.0.650.0 without any problems. Can someone give me any good reasons why I should upgrade to this latest version? If it ain't broke, why fix it?

ESet Smart Security is a awesome program. I really liked the firewall, the way you can do things. But it seems like they need to improve detection rates a little more because it missed like 12 trojans..lol, and they werent FP's either.
Nod32 is superb in memory usage, and its footprint is pwnage. It was a pleasurable experience because it felt professional. But I was looking up VIPRE and i installed it and it was also light on resources. I still don't know what I should stick with. It's either gonna be ESS, VIPRE, KIS, or Avira.
