new to nod32...bit of help please...

hi there,

i'm new to nod32. just received details from eset that covers me for a months trial of nod32 business edition. i have a user/pass and also a license file.

i've downloaded the lan update server v2.7, remote admin server v2, remote admin console v2, and nod32 v3.0.

i've installed the lan update server on an sbs box. i entered my user/pass and it has updated. i have setup a mirror, and this looks like it has setup ok. nod32 on the server has todays update installed, and it is telling me that the mirror is up to date also. i've told the lan update server to use http port 8088 as 8081 is used for something else on sbs.

i've installed the remote admin server (and provided it the license file), and the console. i've added nod32 v3.0 as a package, and updated the configuration pointing it to http://[server ip address]:8088 for updates. i have pushed this out to a couple of workstations and it has installed ok.

however, on the clients the update file is not the most up to date. and when it i try to manually run the task it just comes back saying it is up to date.

something has obviously gone wrong somewhere...!

all the documentation i seem to be able to get my hands on seems to be slightly out of date, or is for different versions, or talks about functionality that has changed...

is there a proper guide on how to get this up and running...?

There isn't really an up to date guide on the forum (old version here:http://www.wilderssecurity.com/showthread.php?t=138526). But you should read the documentation that comes with the RA server/Console

You don't really need the LAN Update server as you can make your RA server function as an update server with just 2 or 3 clicks. The RA Server/Console documentation from the download page should give you all the info you need to properly configure RA(S/C) and the clients.

i think it's a problem specific to v3.0...

i've uninstalled *everything* from the sbs server and just put v2.7 lan update server back on - no remote admin or anything...then taken some xp machines and just put v2.7 standard on and they seem to be working fine...

take a fresh xp client and pop v3.0 onto it, point it to the same update server and it just doesn't want to play... it just tells me it's up to date, when it's not!

any clues specific to v3.0?

I've never used teh LAN update server.

Maybe it just doesn't support 3.0 clients? I know that if you enable the mirror on the RA server it has support for 3.0 standard and you have to select an option to support 2.7 clients (and point 2.7 clients to a subfolder (http://nodserver/nod32v2/)

a System Reboot usually sorts that out. Sometimes when you click on update on the client PC, its says no update is necessary even though it doesn't have the latest updates, reboot the system, and then it should update.
