I noticed a while back that when I tried to open an RAR archive with PowerArchiver it would take for ever. Then I kind of forgot about it until recently when I tried opening a RAR archive over 1 gig in size. I never did open it as things just crawled and I eventually canceled the attempt. Recently I noticed this with a smaller RAR file (which did eventually open) and the culprit seems to be ESS. If I temporarily disable it; RAR archives are opened in short time.
So what setting in ESS might be the culprit here?
