I found it slow and unreliable, but it's better than nothing, but shouldn't be relied upon as a first line of defence

Hi,zorrozorrito :)

I know some people report that SWAT IT freeware version's update frequency is once a two or three month. I think SWAT IT can't keep up with the newest trojans, so this scanner is almost useless to detect trojans. Though it's better than nothing.

As for the freeware anti trojan scanner, I do recommend ANTIDOTE SuperLite, because this scanner uses Kaspersky engine and definition files.

The negative points of this scanner are:

-This scanner is on demand only, there is no resident protection feature.
-There are no delete, disinfect, quarantine functions.
-You have to download whole program components(about 3Mbytes) once a weak.

Here is the Antidote's link

I think BitDeffender freeware edition is also good freeware alternative.

You can check security softwares' update frequency from this site.

But um isn't SAWT-IT freeware? and their flagship software now is Hacker Iliminator (Alias LockDown 2000) ?

You don't get full protection with Most softwears , not even process guard free, tds free trojan hunter trial, ect

just adding to the disscussion :-X
