View Full Version : FirstDefense-ISR 3.31.233
Leapfrog Software
August 5th, 2008, 10:43 AM
Greetings,
We have a new version of FirstDefense-ISR Server and Professional available for download. Support for this update will be very limited. We do not have the support staff available, and thus responses from Leapfrog Software will be slow. Of course, you do have this wonderful forum to post questions that may provide faster answers from other members.
Notes on Version 3.31.233 Professional & Server
- Fixed problem where a snapshot could not be booted if the boot disk was not enumerating to disk 0. (This fix is what many have been calling the "RAID issue")
Professional: << download link >> (http://www.digitalthemepark.com/downloads/LSI/FirstDefense-ISR_3.31.233_Professional.exe)
Server: << download link >> (http://www.digitalthemepark.com/downloads/LSI/FirstDefense-ISR_3.31.233_Server.exe)
Note: For those that already have the above single file fix, this download is optional.
Enjoy.

Thanks Todd. I would say, given the situation, your support is above and beyond.

For those of us who were fortunate enough not to have the 'raid' issue, is there any need to update to this version?

Nope, the disk enumeration issue was the only fix.

I would still download it and tuck it away. You never know.

AMAZED! Simply amazed at the Leapfrog team and their support. The very best I've seen in the last twenty-some years of fooling around with computers. Definitely the paradigm of what a software company should be.

Many thanx to all at Leapfrog for their unrelenting dedication to users of their software.

Does this install on-top of version 232 OR is a fresh install recommended?
BTW, thanks to Todd for all his efforts and generosity! FD-ISR has saved by butt countless times, including this past weekend when my XP would not load (black screen) due to some missing system file.

Just for explicit clarity - can 233 be used not only for raid but for a single drive or should we use 232 if a single and 233 if raid? I suppose another question would be - is there any difference if using raid 0 or raid 1 (or 5 or 10, etc)? I'm using a single drive right now but am considering switching to raid 0.
Thanks, Jim C.

I wouldn't recommend an over the top. But if 232 is working fine then just store 233 away.
Again, right now I am running 232 with the patch. I downloaded 233, but won't use it until I need to uninstall and reinstall for some reason. Just nice to have it for the future.

There is always a single few groups who go far out of their way, even at their own expense to prove their efforts and dedication are entirely sincere. LEAPFROG just happens to be in that elite few IMO and AFAIK that separates the very professional and devotion to it's customers that trancends today's common lack of interest of the majority.
If any group or company deserves the highest marketing value and reputation, this one is at the top of the stage. I hope a huge windwall comes their way, because this is an innovative talented group that consistently stands well above it's nearest (if there is one) competitor.

Todd,
The new version works just great on my raid system. It fixed all of the problems from the earlier release.
It also seems that the vss mode comes up faster and I have switched back to that from rss.
Thanks for all of your hard work.

Greetings All,
JW Clements: Version .233 fixes a drive enumeration issue that really had nothing to do with RAID, but the way the BIOS handles some additional drive controllers (or two) that are found on several modern system boards. Version .233 works on both single and multiple controller system boards.
Birdman, we setup the installer that it will not install on top of the old version. You uninstall the old and install the new (settings, snapshots, archives are saved). I know some folks like installer that install over old, or patch previous versions, but we found that an uninstall and install is the safest way to go.
alloucho: Seek the thread on updating to .232 and it has the procedure to get a new license key.

As usual, WAY behind in what's been happening, so was thrilled when I saw all of this Tuesday. Already received the activation key yesterday, installation went without a hitch, have updated snaps & archives, boot up is fine. The only odd thing was my 1st archive update, it took a long time to actually finish when the FINISHING message displayed. Then there was a lag before the actual date/time got updated on the archive.
On the 1st bootup, it did not retain my Option Settings. May have been an OnlineArmor thing, which I had shut down during installation. I only had to reset them after that 1st bootup.
Also, when I tried to access the manual via PF1, or open the .chm, it was looking for ISRHelp21.chm, which I don't have. I did have ISRHelp.chm, so changed the target to that & all is well.
My upgrade was from version 3.20 Build 202 from Horizon Datasys.
Thanks so much - heatherj

Greetings HeatherJ,
Thanks for the note on the ISRHelp.chm. This looks to be something we need to fix in installer. We will make sure to have that correct in the next build.

If you are a licensed user you need to follow the instructions in this post (http://www.wilderssecurity.com/showthread.php?t=213713)
Then you will get the key you need from Leapfrog. If you aren't a licensed user from when Raxco,Peerless and Bootback were selling FDISR, then you are out of luck. Purchase of FDISR-Rescue, doesn't qualify you.

Hi guys, I'm using the Horizon Datasys v3.21 build 205. Will this update work for me?
Also, side issue, just got an email from Horizon offering a $10.35/year annual maintenance and support plan extension. Any comments on that? Did use it once this year.
Peace,
Chamlin

Unless Todd comes in here and says otherwise, I don't believe you are eligible for this upgrade. As I understand it this upgrade was strictly for people licensed with builds from the original resellers who no longer carry the products.

Hi Pete,
any FD-ISR PRO user (not FD-ISR Rescue) is eligible for this upgrade... as long as he can provide proof of his purchasing.
ps. I had bought my version from horizon and Todd did gave me an upgrade key.

Chamlin,
I don't think that the maintenance plan from Horizon will do you any good. Horizon has stopped selling the pro version. My past experiences with their support group have been very unsatisfactory. If you have a problem, you are much better off here.

Unfortunately you can't. This version was only an update for license holders of previous versions.

Todd,
it succeeded now.
I use always MSTAG.
It looks that you Spam-defence see it as spam.
So closing down MSTAG is the solution to my problem.
