Spybot S&D has poorer detection rates these days, hence Avira Premium is recommended for more complete cover.

But for a free soln I would use Avira Free with Super Antispyware or similar

Avira Premium is your best bet, also MS Defender with Sprynet enabled becomes a free HIPS and is good protection as well specially now that updates are quite frequent for Defender.

Avira Antivir PE free + Threatfire free + Geswall free = Simple Safe Computing

On demand - Bitdefender, Dr Web Cureit, SAS, MBAM.

Start clean and stay clean.

Realtime - Firefox with Noscript run through Sandboxie.

Benefits - Stuff all resource usage, no blacklist scanning of sites needed and "any and all" inet atttacks contained/deleted as required.

for me the best is using avira premium rather than the free + spybot,
spybot does not have real time protection for spyware. avira premium does have and supports email and web scanning.

i recommend to you avira premium. high detection in viruses but i dont know if its good in spyware and other malware infections.

as for my security i used AVG 8.0 professional + Norton AntiBot + SAS + Spyware Blaster + Spybot S&D.

SAS and Spybot are my on demand scanner. so i just disabled them.

for my real time protection AVG 8.0 (heuristic analysis)+ Norton AntiBot (best behavioral analysis)

{QUOTE-> spybot does not have real time protection for spyware. <-QUOTE}I think teatimer feature in SpyBot qualifies as real-time protection!

YES SPYBOT HAS TEA TIMER "THE VERY ANNOYING TEATIMER" THAT ALWAYS DETECTS GOOD PROGRAMS. AND DOES NOT EVEN CLEAN MY PC FROM IE ANTIVIRUS 2008.

I think Avira Free with SAS realtime or avira premium with SAS on demand.

I agree with Franklin. Otherwise Avira free with SAS Pro and OA free using runsafer for internet facing apps or DropMyRights may be an option to YOUR liking. Common thread here.... Spybot is missing.

I would say go for Avira Antivir Premium. Spybot is just not able to handle many of the blended threats nowadays.
