View Full Version : Another "Can't Delete Old Backup" problem

I do a full backup of C drive to a bkup location on my E drive, scheduled automatically in the middle of the night. I have a limit of 2 set up. There is plenty of room if the auto delete worked. It never does.

I get a log entry of "(Trying to fix limit violation: by backup count.)" Then I get several log entries of "(computer .closed" module="53" time="1217053058" /> <event code="26" id="29" level="2" message="Archive)". Next it says "Deletion complete". It then verifys the archive and says "Operation has succeeded" and quits. But it didn't "Delete anything". I have attached a text file with the last three logs for anyone who might decipher this. There were three and a half backups at the time the disk was full.

I also do a backup of "my documents" from another computer, to a location on the E drive of this computer, and the # of backups limits work fine on that task.

Can the "computer .closed", be because it has closed the C drive for the backup, but is trying to open the recycle bin to put the deleted file into? (Just a guess). It wouldn't fit anyway.

I have been manually deleting for the last year when the backup fails because disk is full. Had TIH 10. Now have TIH 11. Build 8053, on XP home ed.

Like so many others, I have had very poor response from Acronis Support.

Thanks in advance

You might try the latest build of TI 11 (8,101) and see if it deletes correctly.

I was going to but notes say its only for Vista problems and I have waisted so many hours with Acronis that I thought I'd wait for a definitive answer before shotguning again.

Hello mdamon,

Thank you for choosing Acronis Disk Backup Software (http://www.acronis.com/homecomputing/products/trueimage/).

We are sorry for delayed response.

Please notice that our Development Team are aware of the problem. Unfortunately, it wasn't fixed yet. Most likely, it will be fixed in the next version of Acronis True Image. We are sorry, but the exact time-frame isn't defined yet.

Thank you.

:-\ At least an honest answer. However,:'( to me that feature is one of the main reasons I bought Acronis. Does that mean that when the "new version" comes out I am going to have to "buy" 2 more copies? This was supposed to work back in TI 10.

If they didn't work in 10 and don't work in 11...
