I've been using Counterspy for some time now (a couple years) and it's been a love-hate relationship.
The reason for that is pretty simple. I install Counterspy and set it all up. Given the overhead I set the schedule to run once a week. So the week goes by and all is fine. That evening the product runs. Invariably the next morning I'm presented with a pop-up from Counterspy telling me that essentially it thinks it's not installed and wants to install properly. All settings are reset to default. The schedule is gone. The definitions are out of date.
It's a mess. Every time I see this I have to manually go in and get new definitions. What's more is that after this happens I see Counterspy in the tray. It says it's running and all is fine but I never get ANY kind of dialog from it telling me I've got a problem. After fixing it again I start getting those back.
I've e-mailed support and they've been useless. It's always the same story. I'm the only human on the planet who has ever had this problem. They recommend a re-install (done that a hundred times). They send complex instructions for checking out the system and I send in the results and never hear from them again.
This is all on a pretty standard Windows XP (SP3) system. It's running NOD32 but I've tried running without that to no avail.
My only hope now seems to be 3.0 unless anyone else has any ideas. Any input would be greatly appreciated.
