Need a new AV is ESET NOD32 the one?

I need a new AV as my subscription is about to expire on F-Secure. Customer reviews provide an excellent rating on ESET, but as I read your forums, I am concerned about the issues being discussed. Is v2.7 a better option than v3.2? Can I buy v2.7? Am I overreacting to the problems I am reading about in this forum. I am sick of paying for crappy AV programs. Any feedback is greatly appreciated!!

There are many things I like about NOD32 v3 including its updated interface and simple default settings. I have found the various versions of NOD AV that I have used to be very effective and light on resources. I would not hesitate to recommend NOD32 AV. IMO it is the one to use at this point in time.

If you are running a separate firewall such as ZoneAlarm Pro (ZAP) or another firewall then you will want to check for compatibility with NOD v3 just like you always should when using different non-integrated security software solutions. I did experience a minor compatibility issue between these two programs that effects access to some secure web sites that require cookies (when specific privacy settings are enabled in ZAP). To avoid this one issue I have found that NOD32 v2.7x seems to work better in conjunction with ZAP v7.x. The NOD32 AV subscription license works for both NOD32 v3.x and v2.7x so this is currently not a major issue for me.

From reading this forum and from my direct experience I would recommend either NOD32 v3 or NOD32 v2.7 as top notch AV program solutions. The only way to find out what is best for you is to uninstall your current AV, install the trial version of NOD32 v3 and go from there.

NOD32 is the best. When you read complaints, you have to remember how many people use the forum. The people with problems are probably a small percentage of the total people using NOD32. You may have to customize a feature to run smooth with your setup, realizing that ESET can't conform to every computer setup out there. I had a small problem when I upgraded to v3.650, but clicking a radio button fixed that. Sometimes a problem arises right after installing, but you fail to remember that you did a few tasks in another app about the same time, and your new problem isn't due to ESET. This also happened to me. My NOD32 v3.650 is humming away fine. ;D

I have to agree with Blue with the hands on so to speak.Eset offers a generous trial period and you should now by then end of that trial If it is for you and your machine.I was a beta tester for V3 with out issues at all though some had many.I also trialed the final release with out issue.If you do not like there is a nice feature Called Uninstall.;D
