Configuration import from 2.7 to 3.0

I am in the process of updating our company from 2.7 to 3.0 - I notice that when I open my old .xml configs they appear blank in the 3.0 editor. Are these not compatible? I really do not want to redo the entire configuration - it is vague and tedious to complete.

Since v2 and v3 are different in almost all aspects, it's impossible to use a v2 config file to configure v3. There are many new settings in v3 that didn't exist in v2 and vice-versa. By the way, what settings would you need to modify? The default settings are best for 99% of users.

I turn off most notifications, I don't want our users seeing anything - I want this to work as quietly as possible. I have to set up remote admin server details, credentials, other minor things like disabling splash screen, threatsense details, exclusions for xp, server. I must not have looked closely enough it looks very similar to 2.7.
