OK.....my NOD32 subscription expires tomorrow, so just a few minutes ago I decided to renew it for yet another year. I was using v3.0.667.0 and figured I'd finally upgrade myself to v3.0.669.0 at the same time and kill two birds with one stone.

Anyways, I was gonna install the new version over the old version and be done with it, but I got the error below. So when that didn't work, I tried to uninstall the older version and do a clean install on the new one, but I got the same error again.

I don't have anything else running and I don't have anything else open, does anyone know what I'm doing wrong?

By the way, I can't even find that file on my computer. I read in another thread that I might have to delete it, but it's not where it should be and I can't locate it anywhere else.

Any help would be appreciated!

It looks like one of the other apps you are running may have a stranglehold on that file. Finding which one would be the key.

The file you can't find is hidden by default. You will have to change your settings to unhide the file.

In documents and settings, go to the top of the window and choose tools, folder options, view, and set it as in the screenshot.

I got it sorted. I disabled the Eset Service and stopped NOD32 from auto starting, after that I was able to uninstall it. The reinstall went perfectly fine afterwards.

I'm happy now! :D
