Lost original image, now whats the best procedure

Hi, yesterday my external drive failed that contained my clean install image of Vista, that i had recently installed with all drivers, and windows updated with SP1, and a copy of FD-Isr (original) installed on it.

Now i do have an FD-ISR archive of this exact image which is also my secondary snapshot,along with my current primary snapshot which is also archived.

Now i would like to be able to make an image just of this clean install again, so does this procedure seem ok.
Boot to secondary snapshot.
Remove primary snapshot.
Make image.
Then restore archive of primary snapshot.

Or would the above procedure be pointless as i have this archive stored that i can restore should my system fail completely.

It would be time consuming, not pointless if you want an image along with the archives. And yes it looks right to me.

Where are your archives stored?
If they reside on the system partition, then they will be included in your disk image too, making the image BIG.

I would consider to just copy the archives to somewhere else. Archives are easier to update with security fixes.

I have them on another partition, fortunately not the one i had my images saved to though.:)

All done in a little under an hour and a half, FD-Isr to the rescue.

Erik, how many snapshots do you have and what is your purpose for each snapshot??

That's a good question, on which you might want different input. Why don't you start a new thread. If you have recovered okay, do we need this thread open any more?
