Hi guys,

I'm trying to get some support for the recovery software that came with my lenovo thinkpad. I've tried forums at notebook review and the lenovo forums and no one has an answer. The support center only deals with hardware issues and not "installing and configuraion of software". However there is obviously a bug in the software. I describe the problem below.

I have R61i 89329TM running Vista Business SP1. I ran system update and have the latest critical patches as of 4.30pm GMT +10. (i.e. I have installed the 1.6MB update to RnR 4.2 for Vista SP1)

When I try to back to an external harddrive, RnR will work and the Thinkpad harddrive LED will flash showing activity however the progress bar will show 0%. After 5-10 mins, a dialogue will pop up saying "This operation requires to reboot your system, do you wish to continue?". On its left is a windows 98 esque spining hour glass. However there are no Yes/No or Ok/Cancel buttons. RnR just stays in this state and continues to show 0% completion.

The screenshot is at http://img230.imageshack.us/my.php?image=rnr2bz0.png

What is the problem and is there a solution? Who can I contact for this problem?

Cheers
Jeremy

Lenovo / IBM support used to be much better than that.

I've seen similar behavior once or twice with RnR on my two year old XP Thinkpad. But it cleared up on subsequent tries.
Other than a couple of hiccups, I've found RnR to be reliable, but others have sworn off it. It is normal for RnR progress bar to stay at 0 for quite a while during operation, but the reboot message is not.

Recommend you search forum.thinkpads.com
also search
www-307.ibm.com/pc/support for articles.

It's possible the problem is related to how you've configured RnR, but I doubt this is the case. Finally, I think you can uninstall / reinstall RnR ??? Please confirm this is possible before attempting.

Sorry I couldn't be more help.
