Why does "System 32" open every time I re-boot. At times it pops up after I close it too.

Hi Mike,

No Problem :) Please follow the steps outlined here

http://www.wilderssecurity.com/showthread.php?t=5513

Also, can you tell us how long has this been happening, and what Operating System you are using (Win98, WinME, XP, etc)?

Thanks

Whichever window that pops up that says system 32. Maybe you can describe a bit more what is happening? You said "System 32 pops up". Can you describe this a bit more? Do you mean some program called System 32?

or Windows Explorer opens and it has that folder open in it?

or some firewall you are using says "System32" is trying to access the net?

There are two common reasons for that folder to open at boot.

One is described here: http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=KB;EN-US;170086

The other is a widespread IRC Trojan. In that case follow the link Dan gave you and post your HijackThis log.

Pieter

Added URL tags and read the FAQ. LOL
