Hi,

I have installed a new harddrive "D" after a failure, i haave successfully restored ally my data but i am having trouble with Outlook.

Outlook 2003 worked fine after i reinstalled it, after a TI 10 restore it will not find the correct filepath for pst files, sometimes it encounters a problem and will not let me get in, other times it cannot find the path to pst, (even after directing it).

I have started it in safemode but then i find i cannot find the TI 10 restored files.

Does anyone know where they go after restoration, there is no option to choose when restoring (I think)!

What type of backup did you make? Entire partition or Files and Folders?

Did you use the Search function (Start button, Search) to search for *.pst? You will have to check the advanced search options to enable searching in hidden folders since the pst files are normally under "Local Settings" which is a hidden folder.

Hi John, Thanks for your help,

I am using build 4942.

I do two back ups, one of the entire disk and one just of Outlook, the Outlook one is supposed to copy all the mail folders.

I have done a pst search on your recomendation and also used Disk Doctors Outlook mail recovery prog, both of then only find files that Outlook makes everytime it opens (245KB) and some recovered files that i used "Recover my Files" prog for that Outlook will not open when pointed to.

Scanpst.exe will not open them or if it does they are not the right ones.

I estimate that the Outlook data will be between 2 and 5GB, is there a way of finding files of that size?

Sorry if this is complicated!!!

The Outlook, pst file can be extracted from a full system backup image by mounting the image and navigaing to the file:
Documents and Settings / your logon / Local Settings / Application Data / Microfsoft / Outlook.

You need to set hidden files to be visible in Windows Explorer to see the Local Settings folder.

Windows Explorer / Tools / Folder Options / View tab. Under Hidden Files and Folders, click the radio button for "Show hidden files and folders.
