I need a file compression tool.

Sorry if this topic has been posted before but I couldn't fin d it with a search.

I need a file compresion tool. I used winzip but not really happy with it. Does anyone know of a good compression program that has password protection? I was looking at Tugzip but I'm not sure. Anyone used Tugzip? If so is it any good?

I forgot to mention that I tried zip genius and didn't like it either.

Yes now that's the ticket I heard of only one of them program you mentioned and that's power archiver and I heard mixed feelings about it. I want something that isn't a disk space hog. LOL I have the space just hate programs taking up more space than it should. :)

Jan, I used winzip 7 ( I think it was 7). It came free with earthlink when I was with earthlink.

Anyone know anything about ultimate zip? Never mind I see that Ultimate zip is adware.

I prefer Winzip to ultimatezip. Interface is less cluttered, more intuitive. The adware part of UZ is badly implemented too, I think. On startup a splash screen is shown. That';s shown too long work efficiently.

WinRar is a good one. It is small and fast.

If you want a free one, try IZArc or 7-zip

may wanna try this one it dont have any crypto funtion but its small and does its job resionably well if ya dont like intrusive interfaces like me then this is nice just right clicking on the file/files to be ziped then choose your zip method and ya dont just point and shoot and thats it
