I have made an image on a USB connected HD. I did have no problems creating the image. Now I had a crash and would like to restore the image. I can explore the image on another computer. I can see the whole contents of the image. But if I want to restore the image or a separat file from that HD, I get an error that I have an I/O error.

??? Who has the same problem and what is the solution ??

Did you try your restore under Windows or with the rescue-CD?

If under Windows try from rescue-CD, please.

First check everything, loose ide/sata cables etc.

I've encountered I/O errors only once. Incidently, I blamed the problem on a "crash hard drive" since the computer wouldn't bootup. I replace the hard drive and proceeded to restore through an external USB with no success, then through another internal IDE drive but kept getting I/O errors. Finally I tried to do a clean install of windows with the windows installation cd and that also failed. Finally I replaced the motherboard and that fix the problem. I was able to restore the hard drive.

A motherboard problem wiould be the worst case scenario, but that's the only time I've encountered I/O errors with True image. Maybe you can check your original drive on another computer to see if it's still readable.

I get the I/O problems when I open the Image on another computer. I just need a few files which are in the image. I can see all files (also with the amount of bytes) so it is on the (usb) harddisk.

Perhaps I try to build in the HD into the computer.

My own suggestion WORKED. I've put my harddisk into my computer. The case where I build inthe harddisk i've thrown away. Now I don't get the message i/o error. I HAVE BACK MY DOCUMENTS

Hoppely someone else has something on this solution. Good luck;D
