RA Server not downloading updates

Hi

I have a ESET RA Server that is not downloading updates.

It is configured the same way as the other servers I have that are working Ok.

In the log there are the following errors:

[2008-07-02 08:56:56.234] V1 [486849000000] [000006e8] <UPDATER_ERROR> Error: Update failed, code: 4, additional code: 4612
[2008-07-02 09:54:44.937] V1 [486849000000] [000006e8] <UPDATER_ERROR> Error: Update failed, code: 4, additional code: 4612

I don't know what this means, and I have not received a reply from ESet's support.

Does anyone know what I should be checking to find out what is causing the errors?

Found the problem ;D

I hadn't configured the DNS forwarding on the server :-[

Once I did that the server was able to find the ESet update servers on the internet.

The RA Server started downloading updates straight away

The clients are now updating Ok.

ESet support replied to my case overnight, and the official answer is:

Those errors indicate that your server either does not have DNS or DNS forwarding configured correctly, and as such is unable to locate our update servers.

Please check your DNS settings and try to update again. <-QUOTE}

I was right! :)
