Hotmail - Email confusion

Is Hotmail set to be scanned by default?
Do I have to add it to Email Clients?
Do I have to check ....iexplore because I use Hotmail?
I noted that MSN Messenger was not listed in Email Clients. So I added it and checked it. Necessary?
Under Web Browsers ...Program Files .... IExplore.exe, MSNmsngr, svchost.exe, and ...system32\iexplore.exe are checked - is this correct?

This is the only confusing part of the setup to me.

I just upgraded to v3 from 2.x and decided to look at all the settings.
