How do I get Hibernate in one of the options thats in the shutdown menu???

Found this on a google search. Don't know if it works but here it is:

1. Click Start, click Run, type regedit, and then click OK.
2. Locate and then click the following registry subkey:
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Po...
3. Right-click Windows, point to New, and then click Key.
4. In the New Key #1 box, type System, and then press ENTER.
5. Right-click System, point to New, and then click Key.
6. In the New Key #1 box, type Shutdown, and then press ENTER.
7. On the Edit menu, point to New, and then click DWORD Value.
8. In the New Value # 1 box, type ShowHibernateButton, and then press ENTER.
9. Right-click ShowHibernateButton, and then click Modify.
10. In the Value data box, type 1, leave the default Hexadecimal option selected, and then click OK.
11. Quit Registry Editor.

You must have a MS patch.
It's not open, so you must contact MS support and they send it to you.
Give a few hours and I'll find the link, I did it a few months ago.

Not what you asked for but a related solution, Mini Shut Down Utilities (MSDU) (http://kksw.fw.hu/winoff.html), allows a shortcut to be placed anywhere you desire. Clicking on shortcut and the action is immediate.

You can use a shortcut for:

Hibernates Windows (if supported by Windows)
Locks Win 2000/XP based workstations (not work for NT 4.0)
Logs you off (network required)
Shut down Windows
Force Windows to shut down (*)
Restart Windows
Force Windows to restart (*)
Suspend Windows (power management must be enabled)
Force Win to suspend (power management must be enabled(*)

You can also run program(s) before Windows shuts down/restarts/etc by including it in a batch file. Handy if you want to run a program and then shutdown or hibernate the computer before going to bed or leaving the house.

I use shutdown, restart, and hibernate. It is a reliable one click solution. No installation required.

I have a similar solution, called MonOff.exe
It adds an icon on the desktop, and when you right-click, you can shutdown, log off, restart, hibernate, suspend or turn off the monitor (this is the main use I give it)

Yeah, I knew about those shortcuts, but I needed (or wanted) one to shut down the screen...

If you enable hibernation it will use diskspace equal to the amount of ram you have.

No big deal, just a reminder if you enable and lose a gig or two.
