Maybe LWM uses the same ear fettish babysitter we did last year. :o

A little nibble here...a few licks there and poor pixel would be just a ghost of his former self.

LWM has to be joking ... a one pixel puppy ??? No wonder the puppy got lost ... :D :D :D

pixel - a single picture element, the smallest dot on the screen. A period (.) is made of 4 pixels in a square.

LowWaterMark
February 5th, 2004, 05:52 PM
The entire Pixel family are all just one pixel in size. We can only see them with a magnifying glass. :D

(The reason that we don't need to use the magnifying glass anymore is that the forum software has been adapted to automatically magnify my avatars so everyone can see them.)

Here's one before the automatic magnifying...

BigC, so sorry to hear that you lost your pup! :'(

But you had that fur baby for 19 years?! Wow, you must have lots of good times together!

When I contemplate the death of my dog, Nanda, who's a 13-year old blind, diabetic, Siberian Husky with thyroid problems, I often re-read "Rainbow Bridge" for comfort. I'm sure many pet owners are familiar with this but, just for the sake of the few that have never seen it, here you go:

Just this side of heaven is a place called Rainbow Bridge.
When an animal dies that has been especially close to someone here, that pet goes to Rainbow Bridge. There are meadows and hills for all of our special friends so they can run and play together. There is plenty of food, water and sunshine, and our friends are warm and comfortable.

All the animals who had been ill and old are restored to health and vigor. Those who were hurt or maimed are made whole and strong again, just as we remember them in our dreams of days and times gone by. The animals are happy and content, except for one small thing; they each miss someone very special to them, who had to be left behind.
They all run and play together, but the day comes when one suddenly stops and looks into the distance. His bright eyes are intent. His eager body quivers. Suddenly he begins to run from the group, flying over the green grass, his legs carrying him faster and faster.

You have been spotted, and when you and your special friend finally meet, you cling together in joyous reunion, never to be parted again. The happy kisses rain upon your face; your hands again caress the beloved head, and you look once more into the trusting eyes of your pet, so long gone from your life but never absent from your heart.

Then you cross Rainbow Bridge together....

There at the end of the street
Lived a wise old woman ever so kind and neat
She was sitting down to eat when a scratching came
The ancient figure looked toward the door as she reached for her cane
As she opened the door to find a little lost puppy sitting on the step
It looked at her with forlorning eyes
"Come in come in," she said, "what a wonderful surprise!"
With a yip, a bounce, and a wag of the tail he came in

She sat down in her chair and called the pup forward
He hopped into her lap like he knew her so well
She examined him with care from his small tail to the frayed cord
The pup suddenly looked the ancient in the face
Their eyes locked, age old blue to the youthful green

"You remind me of a boy I once knew
Sadness as an aura but charming and cute like you
He was a lost puppy to his sanity and the world
I lost him so long ago as he let his crimson unfurl
If I didn"t know better I'd say you were him
The twinkle in your eye suggest you are in someways him."

She sighed for memories long since past
"You can stay with me, you scamp, as long as my body will last.
But I must give you a name, how about Just?"
The pup gave a queer look and shook his head in disgust
"I'll name you for the one I lost, so now your name is John."
The little puppy beamed for he was with a true friend from times long gone

Dear BigC,

I'm really very sorry to hear about the loss of your dear friend !
I'm sorry that I only just now did read your posting.
There were two topics going on in this thread: the one about the "pixel-puppy" and the one about the loss of your dear friend.
Of course the loss of your friend is far and far more important: it's real life.
Please accept my apologies.
Loosing a dear pet is a very sad thing !
Your dear friend was for so long time with you.
I'm so sorry that he is gone now.

Dear NanDog,

That "Rainbow Bridge" is very nice and very warm !
Thanks !

Warm regards to both of you !
Jan.

Thank you FanJ. This is a serious moment, to be sure.

Sorry for your loss.

Well, gotta take it a little further.... in reference to the link to "Posts to Karma ratio" that FanJ put up, I won't list the poster but I quote:

"Blowing posts on irrelevant social stuff like in ten forward, seriously hurts your ratio."

Ya think?

So what? Ya really think I'm worried about how many "Karma Points" I get?

Ten Forward is a great place to hang out, get to know regular Wilders' folks and just have some fun!

As a newbie, I've been posting more in Ten Forward than anywhere else 'cuz that's where I feel most comfortable. When I get more knowledgeable in 'puter security, I may post elsewhere.

I've already met some damned friendly people with common interests. Don't tell me that Ten Forward is irrelevant! Try hanging out here a little more regularly, you may change your mind! Although you seem pretty cynical, I hope you can change your opinion. YMMV! :)

LowWaterMark

NanDog,

That was a joke thread. That wasn't meant to be a serious comment. That whole karma to post ratio thing was just people playing here in ten-forward. FanJ linked that thread in a continuation of a joke we were playing out, that has now been stopped. So, don't think that that was serious in any way. ;)

NanDog
February 6th, 2004, 02:22 AM

Not a whole lot in ten-forward is serious.

Well, at least not too serious. (Sometimes we have our moments, but we try to keep it light most of the time. The world can be a hard place, so a light, social place like this helps.)

Don't worry, you'll get it soon enough and you'll be playing along with the rest of us before you know it. ;)
