Hello,
I'm using 5 security programs at the moment but want to reduce this to 2 !
Main reason: less use of system resources.
What would be the best or least worse combination to keep ?
- Norton Antibot 1.1.838 (licensed)
- Defensewall 2.42 (licensed)
- Winpatrol 15.0.2008 (licensed)
- Windefender (freeware)
- Threatfire (free version)
+ optional (not in use at the moment)
- Sandboxie 3.26 (licensed)
???

I would keep DefenseWall and ThreatFire. You may also want to keep WinPatrol or add a free HIPS like EQSecure.

Hello coen99,
While I am more than just a little biased, I suggest that you keep DefenseWall(DW) and Norton AntiBot. Alternatively, you could also run just DefenseWall and ThreatFire. The choice is up to you. Lastly, since your signature does not reflect it, are you using the latest version of DW(v2.42)? If not, I suggest that you upgrade ASAP. Lastly, if you have not yet done so, the following link below may be of interest to you.

Hope this helps.

1. DefenseWall (or Sandboxie)
2. EQS, but it was too difficult for me, I use Anti-Executable
3. Frozen system, like Returnil, only this one will keep your system clean. Recovery is much stronger than security and you will need it in the future, so you better learn how to use it now. This requires separation of system and data, unless you like to keep your data in the most dangerous partition [C:]
4. Whatever you want as long it kills malware immediately.

Since you asked for ONLY 2, my recommendations are...
1- Defense Wall
2- Sandboxie

I have to echo repeat bellgamin's suggestion in this multiple choice quiz because in the first place DW is continually moving forward and SandboxIE is an extra treat just in case.

Thnx guys,
decided for the moment to start with the combi:
- DW
- Norton Antibot
Very low on resources.
Furthermore I use Terabyte Image for Windows to "reset" my PC once a week.
Just in case :lurking:

Very good, that's how you keep your system clean, rather than depending on security software to keep it clean. :)

DefenseWall and ThreatFire, Those are the defenses on our XP box (while I have a lisence of Mamutu).
Have a look http://www.wilderssecurity.com/showpost.php?p=1249089&postcount=2528 note I have the option delay startup of Avast services selected in the trouble shooting screen (the default rootkit scan at startup is still performed by Avast)
Why it is not sensible yo combine DW with SBIE see http://www.wilderssecurity.com/showpost.php?p=1248922&postcount=21)
Note the additional resource protection is not nessecary anymore, is implemented by default in DW

Been running DW and SBIE for the last three months. No realtime AV but I perform system scans every couple of weeks with KAV and SAS. Nothing found using this setup. Works nicely. There's been some debate about the waste of running both, but as long as it works then why not! I browse 'artistic' sites fairly regularly and until my bi weekly scans pick up something I feel confident using DW and SBIE together.
My advice to you is to keep DW and SBIE, obviously!

I'm back to running both also.
Nice combo, IMO.
Along with L'n'S and Antibot all's been well.
