Sorry if this has already been addressed, but I did a search through the threads and didn't find what I was looking for.

I bought the ATI 11 recently and did a full backup of my personal PC to a 232GB external drive...no problem. I then scheduled a task to do daily incremental backups...without any problems. I now have 41 incremental backups that has used up around half of that drive...still no problem.

I have two questions:

1. Would it be prudent to (say every month or two) do another full backup with the task of creating daily incrementals and afterwards delete all of the older backups once the full backup appears to be okay?

2. If that is okay, could I remove the older backups from the external drive using the right mouse button and the delete option without any problems? If not, what would be a better way to delete the older files.

Thanx,

ChuckZep

1. It's always good to do another Full and start the Full/Incremental cycle over after a period of time. In my opinion, 41 Incrementals is already too many. If you have any "clean" or "base" images you want to keep, don't erase those. For example: If the original Full image is a good "base" image, you may want to keep it and just delete the associated Incrementals.

2. You can delete TIB files just as any other normal file.

While everything in a perfect world would always work as intended, the thing to remember when creating long chains of incrementals is that if one of them is bad for any reason all of the ones following it are useless.

Keep as many historical backups as possible. It is folly to only have one backup of system.
