I am trying to configure a computer that uses statusbar firefox plugin to work with Antivir scanner. I can't seem to get it working, any help would be appreciated. Found this here (http://dlstatusbar.proboards43.com/index.cgi?board=dlscan&action=print&thread=704) but not of that worked.

Maybe these would work (http://forum.avira.com/wbb/index.php?page=Thread&threadid=9990)?

Also check the Avira help file; maybe the command parameters are different.

Thanks WSFuser, I think I was missing a damn 1 in those parameters for Download Statusbar and that's why it didn't wanna work for me but I checked it out now with a Eicar test virus and it worked fine. Now I can't get the same results using Flashget though, hmm....

Is it possible to use free AntiVIr from command line and what are switches for "repair/delete" + max heuristic?

I still can't figure out the command parameters for Flashget to work properly. Also does anyone know what to add to the script to make it only scan the file in hand and not the whole boot, registry, and memory stuff?

Hi,

you can download the Avira AntiVir command line scanner from this side:
http://www.avira.com/en/support/support_downloads.html

Put the files in your AntiVir PersonalEdition Premium directory.
Just use avcls /? for the list of different parameters.

The available command line options are limited by your license type.
Which means with AntiVir Personal Free some functions are disabled.

Cheers

Hi,
I'm not sure if this (http://forum.avira.com/wbb/index.php?page=Thread&postID=325047#post325047) would work.

This works well for me with Free Download Manager and should work with anything.

C:\Program Files\AntiVir PersonalEdition Premium\avscan.exe

Arguments - /GUIMODE=2 /PATH=%file%

Extensions - exe com msi zip rar arj tar t?z bin cab doc

This will scan and automatically close if nothing is found. If you want to manually close the scan screen I believe you change the 2 into a 1 in Arguments.

C:\Program Files\AntiVir PersonalEdition Premium\avscan.exe

Arguments - /GUIMODE=2 /PATH=%file%

These on Flashget still don't work. I am testing with eicar test virus and it doesn't pick them up.

Hi dja2k

Flashget default Scanning File Types are:
.ZIP;.EXE;.DO?;.XL?;.COM;.BIN;.GZ;.Z;.TAR;.ARJ;.LZH;.SIT;.HQX;.TGZ;.DLL;.OCX;.VBX

You might need to add .TXT to the FG list including the ( ; ). Have you tried to download a zip or .exe file? Does the scan work then?

edit- Flashget detects it with/without the .TXT for me. Got a link? Perhaps it is a setting in AntiVir?
edit 2 - I see you are using Classic. I'm using pro. So if you used C:\Program Files\AntiVir PersonalEdition Premium\avscan.exe it will not work. Find the "avscan.exe" in the Classic and see how that goes.

Oh I can get it to scan but it doesn't find the viruses, I don't know why, but the settings inside Antivir are correct because it works fine with Firefox's Download StatusBar and detects them fine. The command /GUIMODE=2 /PATH="%1 also scans in Flashget but doesn't detect viruses. This is what I have in the settings right now.

Hi,

did you try to put everything in the first line, like:
C:\Program Files\AntiVir PersonalEdition Premium\avscan.exe /GUIMODE=2 /PATH="%FILE%"

And leave the Parameter box empty.

Cheers

I am using the free Antivir not premium, but sorry to say that putting everything in the first line and leaving the parameter blank still doesn't detect anything. Either way, the scan happens and all but it just doesn't pick them up, I don't understand why though.

Maybe this will help. It starts off 2006 but quickly jumps to 2008?
http://forum.avira.com/wbb/index.php?page=Thread&threadID=14538&highlight=flashget

It seems that for some it is difficult to get it to work correctly.:( But since the scan runs but does not detect... I'd start a new thread over there.

Thanks munckman, that's actually the first thing I read before starting a thread here :D . Anyways, thanks guys for the replies.

Does anyone know why every manual scan like I stated above via FF Download Statusbar, Avira scan says "scanning registry" but takes a bit long in scanning C:\WINDOWS\explorer.exe all the time and I think also C:\WINDOWS\system32\smss.exe. Can't there be a way to just scan the file at hand and nothing else. This is the latest Avira Antivir Personal Free Edition. I am using the /GUIMODE=2 /PATH="%1 for AVScan.exe parameter.

dja2k,

Have you resolved your situation? I just saw this post by Alan while seeing what is new with the latest FDM beta (http://www.freedownloadmanager.org/board/viewtopic.php?t=9911).
{QUOTE->
I have found out that the only thing you need to do to have AntiVir scan just the downloaded file and nothing else is set the option in AntiVir under Guard Scan to "Scan when reading and writing".

** ALSO ** Disable "Perform virus check" in the Free Download Manager options.

When the download manager writes the file to the download directory AntiVir will scan just that file and only pop up a dialog if it finds something to warn you about.

Test this by having Free Download Manager download the antivirus test file from http://www.eicar.org/anti_virus_test_file.htm .

Using the settings I just recommended AntiVir Guard should pop up a warning dialog as soon as the download is finished.

Download "eicar.com" from the above webpage.

Try that and see for yourself. <-QUOTE}

I don't know if this is acceptable to you as I do not think there will be any indication of "Safe" downloaded files being scanned by AntiVir.:doubt: I kinda like the idea though... no popups unless there is a warning from AntiVir as the file is being written to disk.
