Show Me Your Vista or XP x64 Security Setups

I've made the move to Vista x64 recently and had one hell of a time trying to find security programs, particularly free, to run. For XP and Vista x86 there are loads of excellent free security programs available and picking any combo of those would provide great protection from malware. For x64 the pickings are pretty slim.

It'd be nice to see what others on WSF are running on their 64-bit systems so others that join the x64 world don't have to scrounge the web trying to find out what works on their OS.

Note on AV's
Antivir scores the best (has the lowest portion 64 bits code), Avast (64 bits driver, strong self defense, full functioning, anti-rootkit by Gmer people, lesser detection rates in comparatives), AVG (lacks rootkit) has largest 64 bits code runs fastest at the moment).

--> AV has a strong personal preference in deciding which: my son does not like Avira because its umbrella stays closed long after startup (a strong guard is useless when not on duty, so he settles for Avast or AVG on his gaming rig).

Note2: Comodo Boclean also works good on Vista64

I'm new to vista 64 bit, my setup is still a work in progress. Currently i'm just using KIS 7 with just the web & mail scanner, pdm and firewall installed.

I remember reading about it in one of your previous posts so I made sure to pay attention as to when the protection was active. I'm happy to report that the umbrella is already open when I log into Windows. I tried as soon as the logon prompt became available so it did not have time to load while at the logon screen.

Thanks, forgot about BOClean as I was so obsessed with TF. I'll take a look at it again.

I still have a license for KAV until August, if I'm not settled on a combo of free products I'll probably re-up the license. I've read that people seem to happy with the way 2009 is shaping up.

Hopefully before malware targets the enhanced Vista64 architecture ;)

Still with LUA, Comodo, the freeware AV's and some payware you are able to cook up a decent protection.

Tonight I will be converting my Quad machine from 32 to 64bit (Home Premium). I have researched around before making this decision and it appears that people are having more success with Vista64 than with XP64 when it came out. OneCare runs on 64 too so no worry there.

I figured if you got a 64bit processor why bottleneck it with a 32bit OS.

Did you run the 64bit upgrade advisor to check your systems compatibility?
