Well here is my problem.
I have recently copied partition with installed windows, on a new hard drive. I wanted to have windows on new hd, so if one hd crashes I have windows on the other, and just copy with acronis, and I do not have to install windows again. The problem is when I want to start windows, from a new hd I get message that
file HAL.DLL is missing and I need to re-install it, however I have checked if this file is really missing and it's not missing.
Now if anyone knows how to solve this problem, I will be very thankful.

Is the new hard drive setup using the same partition layout?

Is the Windows partition Active?

Did you copy the partition while booted to the old Windows drive or when booted to the DD CD?

True Image (or any other disk imaging program) is generally better for doing backups and restores than using DD.

1. No it is not, because the first disk is 160gb, and has two partitions one 78.1gb, the other 70.9gb. Second disk has also two partitions one 76.6, the other 15.6mb. Is this the right information I gave?

2. No it is not active.

3. I copied during booted to the old drive Windows.

I have tried with True Image and yes it worked. Thank you MudCrab;)
