20% discount Avira Premium- Heads Up.

I've been trialling Avira PE Premium & liked it, but today I downloaded and installed the free version just to remind myself the exact features it had, compared with the paid version.
On the initial update, a window opened offering the premium version at 20% off, this week only
Now, Avira is probably the cheapest of all the better AVs, even without a discount, so I grabbed it for the grand total, including VAT, of 15,96 Euros.
I now have a red brolly for at least 12 months.:thumb:

if i want buy it i have to donate 8.15 dollar to the Auerbach Foundation, so i dont like that so i wont buy it, i dont have money to donate, when i have extra money i send it to my familly in cuba belive me they need it, and if after that i still have somenting to donate i will give to a Children programs or cancel programs that is more importan to me

How is this relevant? It's not. The fact is, forcing people to donate money to a foundation is ridiculous. That should not be allowed. And I'm sure many people, such as mata7, will boycott Avira until they change their policies.

Donation or not - it is still the cheapest quality AV at 19,95 Euros (around $31 USD), at full price. Most other comparable AV vendors are selling their "not free" versions for $39.95.
Presumably, if Avira kept the whole of the purchase price in their own pockets and weren't up front about the donation, no one would know how the purchase price was allocated and would happily buy the product without raising whingeing objections.
Frankly, if it's a good product at a fair market price, (which it is), I couldn't give a toss about how they divvy-up the gross revenue and I fail to see why the tightwads amongst you are using that as an excuse not to buy!

You guys don't seem to get it. It's not about money. The cost of the product is reasonable, though not the cheapest (see Dr Web or F-Prot). Money is not the issue here. It is about forcing the user to make a mandatory donation when there is no need to. f they were to ask for the donation during checkout that would be one thing, but they are not. They are automatically adding your donation to the price of their product. That is wrong.

If you are talking price, both Norton and McAfee are less than $30 after rebates. Norton can be free if you bought the previous year's version and ISP's give McAfee away.

Anyway, the price is the price. If you don't like it, get something else. All this complaining is silly.

SOme people are really ridiculous. Avira is just showing the breakdown of their donation to the foundation. Right now if I go online it shows the premium version for $20.61 and $6.74 to the foundation. For a whopping total of $27.35 for a top AV. They could easily change and just show the $27.35 for the product. Would you guys buy it then????? Eset is charging $59.99 for NOD32 - PURE PROFIT. Give me a break. If showing that they take $6.74 and donate that to a charity is a bad thing then God help us all. I prefer the company that gives:


- Funding people: youth aid, old people’s aid, student aid, development aid
- Funding education and training
- Funding science and research
- Funding art and culture
