Removing dual boot

I am dual booting Vista Bus. ed. & XP Pro. I would like to remove XP Pro. Would someone please point me to a guide to take care of this? I will purchase DD v10 if it will do this. I currently have TI v 7,8,9, &10. :)

I can't direct you to an existing guide on how to do this, though I believe forum member MudCrab is in the process of preparing something on untangling XP and Vista. If you are not in a hurry it might be best to wait until that becomes available.

If you want to get on with it right away I could post some guidelines for you, as with help from k0lo I have recently completed the disconnection of XP and Vista, which would enable me to remove either without affecting the other - though I didn't want to do that.

Depending on how a particular system is setup, some procedures may need to be different.

Mud ... thank you VERY much. This process worked great. I am now formatting the XP partition. The only problem I had was when you said change the attrib on bootmgr before you said rename it. This didn't work had to go back and change the attri then ren. Great help file. Sure brought back memories from DOS days.

I assume you're referring to the commands in Figure 5.10 and the preceeding commands in the "code" sections regarding moving the bootmgr file. As far as I can tell, they're correct. Could you please take another look at it and let me know exactly what the problem was? If something is wrong with the instructions, I'll fix them.

YOu had it right. It was my mistake. :-[ I switched back and forth from C to D that I got a little confused. This is a very good tutorial. If you don't mind I will bookmark this and pass it on when someone has a need.

Thanks for posting back. That's the part of the instructions I'm trying to simplify because there is so much typing and so many commands.

Feel free to pass it on. I think more and more people are going to find themselves "stuck" with an XP/Vista configuration and want to remove one or the other.
