Is there anyone here who is using the latest version of Ubuntu, 8.04, Hardy Heron, that was released just a couple of weeks ago? This version of Ubuntu has an installation option, called Wubi, that installs a file within Windows, no need to use a CD. If you do not like Ubuntu you simply uninstall it like you would any app in Add Remove Programs.
Once you have installed the Heron, if I understand things correctly, you will then encounter the Windows Boot Manager every time you boot up so you can decide if you want Windows or Ubuntu.
My question is this: Which screen would I see first, the Windows Boot Manager or the FD-ISR pre-Boot screen?
Thanks

On my setup the first menu to pop up is the grub boot manager that ubuntu installs.

Thanks, farmerlee.
Then I assume that you would see the FDISR pre-boot if you chose to boot into Windows at the boot manager?

For me, FD-ISR Menu appears first, then the boot manager to choose from xp or ubuntu.:thumb:

Hmmm, now THAT'S interesting! And since wubi installs Hardy Heron as a single file inside of Windows, I guess that would mean whatever that you would do on Ubuntu would now also be protected by FDISR?!

That sounds correct.
Since the file system of Ubuntu is contained in a single Windows file, FD-ISR would treat it as a regular NTFS file.
I'm sure it's quite a large file, though. and even small changes in Ubuntu would mean a time consuming copy of the complete file.

Just to continue the gist of this thread:
check this :

This extends the wubi concept to a whole new level sort of..
( although it is very different )
Boot to linux in Windows.
I plan on checking this with FDISR sometime soon.
BETA software.
