Hi!

i am just sitting here trying to figure out what's connecting and what's being sent as i am streaming to a radio site. Now i am using Opera and i looked into the cookie.dat file but i'm only seeing about 6 li'l blank squares there. my firewall's packet shows some things...but nothing i haven't come to expect when i surf the net or use ICQ (the site i am streaming to does use ads)

when i was at the Opera Member's forum they were talking about the cookies they were getting....but i'm not finding these cookies?

so what should i use to read cookies, or look for in the firewall that would tell me what's being sent and received, beside darn GREAT music! :)

-----
opps! forgot to add i am using winamp as the player, not the browser itself to get this darn GREAT music!

(i don't wanna give up my music site) :(

Here's the cookie and cache cleaner I use for Opera.

After you highlight and delete the cookies you don't want, be sure and do a save.
Where you getting good music? I have winamp.

;D "Today's music ain't got the same soul! I like that good ol' Rock an' Roll!"

I was going to suggest using Proxomitron 4.3 because it lets you see what's happening, what actually goes to and comes from the server. Howvever, I'm still learning how to use it. You can check it out at Zhen-Xjell's website.

Yes, you can totally block cookies with it and it does a lot of security/privacy stuff!

thank you Prince, but i think i'll stay away from Proxomitron for a bit yet. i'm still needing to learn more than just the default settings with TDS-3 and still waiting for the lights to go on for firewall rulesets!! LOL

this Opera 4 File Explorer that root suggested, looks pretty easy......although it says "No Cookies in Cookies4.dat".....so i'll have to surf a bit with Opera, and get some cookies in there so i can see them! ;D

Snap and Root

by your posts it appears that winamp is not snakeware so will check its sound.....I d/l version 2.5....not an up to date version....the newest version seems to include a broswer...know anything about that...
Because I'll be re-installing my os again real soon I want to test a few programs while no real lasting harm can be done..........enjoy you music Snap...!

Hi snowman!

i love using winamp...the sound is excellent, and the website gives a full walk-through, step-by-step (with pictures) on how to use each feature and adjust your settings.

there was a security flaw with the mini-browser which was caught quickly and fixed with the latest version 2.80.

version 2.80 is free and i have not found it calling home since i have been using it.....(i've used winamp for 4 yrs now)....but i also disable the automatic update option, which is under: Options, Preferences, Setup, Agent....just unclick all three boxes. This disables the winampa agent for automatic updates. :)

other than that, it's easy to use with just it's default settings in place. If you are playing a CD from your CD-rom, or an MP3 on your hard drive, winamp does not request access to the net....the only time it would request access is if you've chosen to stream music to something like a radio station.

here is the link to winamp's site:

whoops!
forgot to add, i've never found the need to use the mini-browser with winamp....maybe root can add something about that, if he's used it?
