Hey group! My best friend and domestic partner is a 13-year old Sibe! She's diabetic, blind, suffers from thyroid problems but.....a damned good dog and buddy! I've been bouncing around looking for a good Sibe avatar to use and haven't found much. Any other doggy types out there who can make some suggestions? TIA! :)

Hi there,
the best way is to put your google to find images like those examples here
http://home.planet.nl/~wiers002/images/p7029.jpg
http://www.t-gallery.com/animals/dogs/dimages/dshusky.gif
http://shcwc.tripod.com/SHCWCWeb/Images/siberian-husky.gif
http://shcwc.tripod.com/SHCWCWeb/
and save the image you like most --must be as clear and sharp as possible-- and with an image editor like Irfanview cut away all unnecessary stuff and resize the image to 60x60. Several people are rather good in this here on the board, so show the images you need if it is possible. Good luck!

This would be what one of those looks like when cut and sized to fit an avatar here. If you find a good source picture, someone could probably convert it to an avatar for you if you don't have the needed software.

Hi NanDog! :)

Since I don't know the colour of your dog I made a few samples (from pictures on the web) for you! Let me know what you think or if the colours are not right on any of them...

They are 60X60, which is the size required here.

As close as I've come to dogsledding was when Nanda was younger and we'd go Rollerblading with her on the leash! Now that was an experience (but not much exercise for me 'cuz I spent the first mile or so just trying to slow her down!) It was an andrenaline rush, though!

Sounds fun to me! I did that with my German sheppard once. I had cross-country skis on and he pulled me over the trails. We have many sleigh dog clubs in Québec ! :)

Yeah, Nanda's father Atka was owned by my sister and brother-in-law and he was a big, muscular Husky! One year we all went xc skiing at Mt. Rainier (I live about 50 miles from The Mountain) and my bro-in-law Mark got into his skis, picked up Atka's leash and yelled "Go!"

I'm sure you can visualize the result. Atka took off like a missile and Mark went airborne and was launched headfirst into the snow and then drug like a sled! Pretty funny! ;D

Of course! we have many sleigh racing in Quebec. All dogs are impatient to go into the trails! They are really good dogs and they don't care the cold or the distance. They are amazing! :)

Well, you are lucky! There are plenty things you can do with sleigh dogs! You can go for the whole day sleighriding through the forest or into country trails! They are a wonderful breed of dog! Because they are not too far removed from the wolf breed and the "pack" mentality, they bond very well with we humans (we become the "pack" family!) In fact, that's one of the drawbacks of having a dog of this nature. They get almost too bonded to the human "pack." They are not good watchdogs as they consider everyone their friend! Nanda is my shadow around my home. She follows me wherevever I go and kinda gets underfoot much of the time. In my truck she wants to crawl into my lap while I'm driving. That's why I have a short web leash clipped into the passenger's door that I clip her to (to keep her on her side of the vehicle!). The only person I ever saw her be negative to was a guy that walked past us on a beach on the Oregon Coast! When this guy approached, her hackles went up and she began to growl from deep in her throat. I've not seen that behavior before or since! I'm convinced that Satan or the Anti-Christ walked past us that day! Spooky!!! I'm just glad he didn't notice us or speak to us!

Very nice Malamute animation, Uguel! They're also great dogs but do get quite large. I'm happy with my 45 pound pup (the dog food bills are reasonable!) And Shelb, Kindred is a beautiful looking Mal! How old is he now? As you prolly know by now, I'm a fan of all the husky/northern breeds. A friend just recently bought an 8-week old puppy who's half Siberian/half Japanese Akita. What a great looking pup! Can't wait to see what he'll look like when he's older!

Kindred just turned a year old a couple weeks ago ;D

Here's a couple more pics.....I'm a proud parent ;)

He weighs 110 pounds, but will stilll muscle-up....Mal's grow until they're two :D He's the sweetest natured dog I have ever seen....we also have two chihuahua's. They boss him around quite a bit. In fact our little male chihuahua is the alpha!!

Heck, I think Kindred sometimes thinks he is a chihuahua.
We plan on getting another Malamute in about a year.

LMAO!

Dang, what an awesome dog! And, from your response, Kindred, like most of the northern breeds, is a sweet, humble, non-assuming canine! And that's what endears me to them: their striking good looks and musculature but, most important, their sweet, loving dispositions! To compare them to humans, it's like knowing a person who has the build of Arnold Schwarzenegger, the fighting potential of Bruce Lee and yet the quiet, loving personality of Mother Theresa!

I hope you have lots of good years with that dog! :D

A Dog Poem

Why own a dog? There's a danger you know,
You can't own just one, for the craving will grow.
There's no doubt they're addictive, wherein lies the danger,
While living with lots, you'll grow poorer and stranger.

One dog is no trouble and two are so funny,
The third one is easy, the fourth one's a honey.
The fifth one is delightful, the sixth one's a breeze,
You find you can live with a household with ease.

So how 'bout another? Would you really dare?
They're really quite easy but oh Lord the hair!
With dogs on the sofa and dogs on the bed,
And crates in the kitchen, it's no bother you said.

They're really no trouble, their manners are great,
What's one more dog and just one more crate?
The sofa is hairy, the windows are crusty,
The floor is all footprints, the furniture all dusty.

The housekeeper suffers, but what do you care?
Who minds a few nose prints and a little more hair.
So let's keep a puppy, you can always find room,
And a little more time for the dust cloth and broom.

There's hardly a limit to the dogs you can add,
The thought of a cutback sure makes you sad.
Each one is so special, so useful, so funny,
The vet and the food bill grows larger, you owe money.

Your folks never visit, few friends come to stay,
Except other dog folks, who live all the same way.
Your lawn has now died, and your shrubs are dead too,
But your weekends are busy, your off with your crew.

There's dog food and vitamins, training and shots,
And entries and travel and motel which cost lots.
Is it worth it, you wonder? Are you caught in a trap?
Then that favorite dog comes and climbs in your lap.

His look says you're special and you know that you will,
Keep all of the critters in spite of the bill.
But winter's a hassle, the dogs hate it too,
But they must have their walks though they're numb and you're blue.

Late evening is awful, you scream and you shout
At the dogs on the sofa that refuse to go out.
The dogs and the dog show, the travel, the thrills,
The work and the worry, the pressure, the bills.

The whole thing seems worth it, the dogs are our life
They're charming and funny and offset the strife.
Your lifestyle has changed - things won't be the same.
Yes, those dogs are addictive and so is the game!

For dog friends! :)

Another nice one by Emily Lewis:

My Dog *puppy*

Have you seen a little dog anywhere about?

A raggy dog, a shaggy dog,

who's always looking out

For some fresh mischief which

he thinks he really ought to do.

He's very likely at this minute

biting on someone's shoe.

If you see that little dog,

his tail up in the air,

A whirly tail, a curly tail,

a dog who doesn't care

For any other dog he meets,

not even for himself,

Then hides your mats, and put your meat

upon the top-most shelf.

If you see that little dog, barking at the cars,

A raggy dog, a shaggy dog,

with eyes like twinkling stars,

Just let me know, for though he's bad,

as bad as bad can be,

I wouldn't change that dog for all

the treasures of the sea.

Because we do like animals!

"Keep treating those little furballs right!"

Don't worry we will. I had my own menagerie in the past and I was in paradise: a cat, two dogs, a duck, a hamster, a raccoon and a canary. Each time I brought a new animal home my parents started raising h*** but after a while they got used to the animal and would not complain anymore. But father never liked my hamster. He kept saying that it looked like a rat! :-[
