I'm just finishing up my first computer build and received my XP Home OEM disk/license today. On the envelope, it also mentions using the OEM Preinstallation Kit (OPK). Is this necessary for a simple home build or is the OPK mainly for large system builders?

Thanks,

I have installed manyl OEM versions of windows 98/ XP/Vista and never ran a preinstalation kit. Personally I wouldn't run it but the final decision is yours. It is mainly for the benefit of system builders.
