I think NOD32 is the greatest thing since sliced bread.
I have had no infections since installing it several years
ago.
I do have a question which I can't seem to get a definitive
answer.
Question:
I (of course) am running NOD32 and Spyware Doctor.
Am I correct is saying that NOD32 now checks for
Spam? If so then when my Spyware Doctor expires I will
not need to renew it. Correct?
Thanks

Hello!
Spam or Spyware - they are different things:
Spyware

SPAM

ESET Smart Security protects against both spyware and unwanted messages (SPAM) . Your ESET NOD32 Antivirus doesn't protect against SPAM but does include antispyware protection (Spyware Doctor is anti-spyware application).

It is up to you if you want to have something as a complement or second opinion . ESET provides antispyware protection since 2005 and it is not bad . You can always have another program for on-demand scans only or basic behavious monitor (such as Windows Defender - free from Microsoft)

I thank you for your informative response.
My understanding of Spam/Spyware was incorrect.
So the next time my NOD32 antivirus expires I should
get Smart Security. Am I right in saying that by getting Smart Security I will be protected from viruses, spam and spyware?
As you can see I am still confused about the Nod32 products
and what they do and don't do.

Next time your NOD32 expires , you can choose what to pick . You can also upgrade to ESET Smart Security now .
Basically , ESET Smart Security is tighly integrated security solution and it itself provides protection against all kind of dangerous things you can meet online . More about it:

ESET Smart Security has firewall , antispam , antivirus and antispyware protections.
ESET NOD32 has only antivirus and antispyware protections .

Thank you again for your informative response.
I didn't know that Smart Security included a Firewall.
I have Zone Alarm right now and as you probably know
it is a two way firewall. Is the Firewall in Smart Security
a two way firewall and if not, can it be disabled so that I
can still use Zone Alarm?

Hello!
Sorry for my delay.
ESET Smart Security's firewall is excellent two-way firewall . You can't have ESS and simply disable its firewall to use ZA . If you want ZA , you simply install ESET NOD32 and combine it with ZA.
ESET Smart Security is a suit (full protection) . All modules complement each other and provide tight protection .ESS will be the better choice , IMO .
You can try before you buy . Uninstall ZA and NOD32 , download ESS trial version.

Hi Hitech_boy,
don't say that so loud, you might wake an Eset guy and make him angry ;-)
They say it is absolutely not a suite (but you're right that it looks like that), as all modules are in the same kernel.
but for all the rest i agree completely
Greetings from my garden in a warm Holland :-)
