I have Acronis True Image 11 with the newest program downloaded. When I create a backup and verify it I get a corrupt archive message. I have used the same hardware in the past--the only new item is a new SATA hard drive. I have run chkdsk on both internal hard drives without errors. This is the same memory that worked last week and all the hardware is the same (except the new SATA hard drive). Memtest checks the memory out as good. Also on the internal hard drive for backup there are old Acronis backups written by the same hardware (except for the new SATA hard drive) that are verified as not corrupt. What could the problem be?

Hello ps101,

Thank you for choosing Acronis Backup software (http://www.acronis.com/homecomputing/products/trueimage/).

When you get "corrupt archive" message this means the data can't be recorded to the archive properly. One of the reasons why this can happen is 3rd party software interfering with Acronis True Image 11 Home (http://www.acronis.com/homecomputing/products/trueimage/). Another possible reason is hardware problem (corrupted cable for example).
So please try to back up under Acronis Bootable Rescue Media firstly and if the backup completes successfully under it this means the reason of the issue is in the 3rd party software which prevents Acronis True Image 11 Home (http://www.acronis.com/homecomputing/products/trueimage/) from creating backup properly when you run it under Windows. We can identify 3rd party software if you submit a request for technical support (http://www.acronis.com/homecomputing/my/support/) with the attached Device Tree screen shots and the link to this thread. Device Tree screen shots can be collected as described in this post (http://www.wilderssecurity.com/showpost.php?p=858144&postcount=7).
If the backup completes with the "corrupt backup archive" message under Acronis Bootable Rescue CD too, this means the reason of the issue is in the hardware. So please check the connection between the new hard disk drive and motherboard. You can also try to change the cable, this can probably help.

Thank you

In addition I am unable to make a bootable disk as whenever I am trying to make a rescue boot disk I get a message that the disk is bad---this occurred with 4 seperate disks and also occurred when I tried to make the disk in SAFE MODE. There must be some harware error occurring. I did use your program and sent a report to analyze to see what may be causing the problem.

Hello ps101,

We are sorry for delayed response.

Please try creating an .iso image instead of directly writing to a CD/DVD, and then burn the .iso image using your favorite burning software. You can read how to record a CD with an ISO image at the following links:

http://trb.org/publications/burning_iso.html
(Nero Burning ROM and Roxio Easy CD Creator)

http://iso.snoekonline.com/iso.htm

(other applications)

Thank you.
