Just bought SP and intend to use the recovery CD to back up the VISTA C partition and immediately test with a restore. I don't want to screw it up.

Are there any special considerations to keep in mind in using SP to make back-ups of partitions with FD-ISR snapshots? For instance, is it advisable to back up the whole partition including free space; is defragmentation recommended beforehand, etc.? Is it useful to exclude any folders / files? And any other suggestions?

I just do the backup with default settings.

As sukarof said-no special considerations,no problems, just do a normal default backup using the same criteria as any other backup:thumb:

I can also echo, no problems with SP and FDISR. No you don't need to back up freespace.

I also use the default settings to backup or restore.

I only created an extra Recovery CD in case the original fails due to
- wear and tear
- a cup of hot coffee with sugar and milk over it
- stepping on it
- a life Dennis, the menace.
- etc.

In fact I have an extra copy and .iso-file of every CD I use to install my computer from scratch. It's hard to get these CD's back when you lose them.
