Has anyone tested AlacrityPC (http://alacritypc.kensalter.com/index.htm)? It looks like it would be of benefit to mainly game players:

-{ Quote: "AlacrityPC allows you to get the most from your Windows PC by shutting down unnecessary services and programs before you run a resource intensive application like a game. When you finish, AlacrityPC will automatically restart the programs and services, returning your PC back to its original state." }-

Not sure if shutting down a few background tasks would actually improve performance that much though?

I consider this as gadgetry. I'm satisfied with the shutdown of WinXPproSP2 and I don't have to wait for this.

I already have that and much MUCH better. :)

Disabling some services like Vista's DWM probably would improve performance.

Anyways I already keep my Window's service tweaked and slim, so I dont see use of this program.

I use a similar app called Smart Close-very handy for defragmenting,as it allows a fuller and faster defrag, when unecessary progs and services arent running.:thumb:

As regards other tasks, such as gaming, burning CDs-it could improve performance depending how powerful your computer is.
