I have just tried to install the latest update 650.

I got this error :-

----------------------
The installer has encountered an unexpected error installing this package.
This may indicate a problem with the package

the error code is 2753
-----------------------------

When I clicked on the OK button on the error popup, it stated that ESS ended prematurely.

Anyone any ideas ?

I emailed support.

ESS installer seems to be not good enough in some cases:

I have recently renewed Nod 32 license for 3 PCs. I have a new user name & password. I have updated to ESS on the office PC without any major problems. I have tried to update my notebook PC. At first I had lots of trouble uninstalling the older version. I have used the knowledge base & other posts & replies to help me with the uninstallation. I am now getting an error message with the code 2753 on installation of the new ESS. I have tried all the suggestions from other posts & replies without success. I have tried to install the previous version that was on the machine, but still getting the same error code. I am running XP Pro SP2, Duo Core processor, 2 gig memory, 160GB HDD. Please help.

I eventually got a reply from ESET, the error points to remnants of anti virus programs in your system, McAfee, Symantec etc.

Did you uninstall any antiV or antispyware programs ?
If so, go to the website concerned and download a program to completely remove them from your system.

A log from ESET SysInspector might shed more light.

This worked for me. I also did a registry search for any anti-virus remnants and deleted the associated keys. In my case, it was AVG. Some keys you have to right-click and set the permissions to full and then delete the key. Reboot and all should be good.

I have never ever had any other antivirus beside NOD (ESS). I tried every trick written on this forum, but no success. So I installed EAV and Online Armor as a firewall and process monitor.
