Hi, i have just tried installing Dr Web on windows vista sp1, connected via a router.
When i reboot i have lost my internet connection.
When checking the settings everything seems fine except for IPV6 which says limited connection.
Disabling and re enabling does not help, windows caanot find a solution when trying a repair.
I disabled the Windows firewall as well but no luck :(
As i have lost the internet connection i cannot register to download a demo key through Dr Web.
I have now uninstalled The Dr and my internet is back!
Anyone have any ideas as to what the problem may be ????
Thanks :thumb:
EDIT:
I should add that prior to installation i had completely removed KIS.

drweb has zero connection with your home connection.
however, kaspersky does.

I was going to say that I didnt think Dr Web has anything to do with your connection.

I mean he needs to look at other things, not Dr Web. It would not do this.

Thats strange then because i have just tried installing again, and when it comes to the part where i either ask for a demo key or input a license key then my internet connection has gone.

I would use CCleaner and go in and delete all registry keys associated with Kaspersky.

I think, if you install drweb and then run spiderml.exe -remove, that will allow you to use drweb (without e-mail monitor) and keep the Internet connected. But I'd like to know why that happened on your machine. Is it any networking software installed on it you can recall?
By the way, maybe Vista Parental Control is on?
Tony
March 21st, 2008, 11:08 AM
Hi sergeyko
I will give that a try shortly, i am just downloading drweb again incase the file was corrupt somehow.
Vista parental control is off and i dint ever recall having any networking software installed as i have no home network.

I reinstalled again after re downloading Dr Web, no internet connection.
After then removing spidermail i can now confirm that i now have my internet connection back, and i have obtained a demo license and am currently performing a scan.
The only question now is why does spidermail block my internet connection?

Could you please run in command line:
reg export HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Services\WinSock2 tcp.txt
and show its content?

Just tried this and nothing happens.
I have had a look in the registry HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Services\WinSock2
And the following attachment is what is found if this helps any.

Tony
1. Open CMD
2. type "reg export HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Services\WinSock2 tcp.txt" (WITHOUT THE SPEECHMARKS)
3. locate tcp.txt and open it
4. copy and past the text here
you should now be seeing the text that sergey wants, should be lots of digits, and ALOT of them.

Still no reply, although that is understandable as it is the weekend and sergeyko may even be away on an easter break.
From looking at the support page, the only place to ask for help for a demo version is on the Dr.Web forum, i have posted there but there does not seem to be any activity on the english forum.
It seems strange that is the way to provide support for a demo and potential customers.

sorry to hear Tony, but as you rightly said.. Sergey was offering help through wilders, and its no Easter (which sucks for you and this problem :) )
i suggest you,

register / login and Post.
state your problem, mention that Sergey has asked for this txt file, and also attach the file.

But I'm sure Ilya and serge will be able to sort
something.
I know for sure, that its an issue I certainly will not be keeping quiet about :)

Hi, what exacty is the bugs between DW and drweb?

The issue is about resolving Reparse Point file names cycle. DrWeb works wrong way with its file handler routine.

Hm, strange to read it here, Ilya. Have not you tried to contact drweb about the problem?
Tony, your problem we'll discuss on the drweb forum further. Shortly, your winsock shows there's Vista Parental Controle enabled.
Tony

Thanks again.
I did have parental controls disabled for all users when i made the log file, although i cannot remember if i had disabled it in servces at that time.
Anyway all instances of parental control should now be disbled and i have attached a new log file below.

The problem has now been resolved.
It looks as though there was a conflict with windows parental control even though it was disabled.
I would like to thank everyone from Dr.Web, Sergeyko, Borka, ArD and Konstantin Yudin for their advice and efforts in providing a solution.
The only other program i have used where i have received the same level of support is Defensewall so a :thumb: to all concerned :)

That's great to see the problem/conflict resolved.
I'll keep in mind to check for the 'parental control' setting when installing DW in the future.
When you say parental control was disabled, what else was needed to ensure there was no further conflict?

Dr.Web supplied me with a Dr.We lsp.exe that i assume removed the remaining traces of parental control that may have been active on my system

Thanks Tony.
What are your impressions, all running ok?
Tony
March 25th, 2008, 10:52 AM
Yes everything appears to be running fine.
I am actually suprised as to just how light and snappy my system (Vista) has become since uninstalling KIS7 and installing Dr.Web.

It will not arrive through automatic updates at least few weeks.
May be fixed build will be available for beta testers in few days.
PS. It was a spider.sys build numder.

I have looked when first installing Dr.Web for an update scheduler but could not find one.
After reading in another post a question was asked about updates and using the scheduler.
If i am right then i should right click on the icon in the tray and be able to select scheduler from there.
Update and scanner are there but the scheduler option is missing.
I have tried a reinstall and i am running as administrator?
C.S.J
March 27th, 2008, 08:19 AM
If your using vista, drweb uses vistas very own 'task scheduler'
Tony
March 27th, 2008, 08:22 AM
That explains it then.
