Dr. Web added 2,183 signatures today. Good to see they are working hard for their users and protection remains world-class.

I noticed the count went up quite drastically but I never did the math to see how many.

Are you referring to this (http://www.amazon.com/Valve-The-Orange-Box/dp/B000PS2XES) thread, or maybe this (http://www.wilderssecurity.com/showthread.php?t=197854) thread?

Haha...No I didn't. Sorry about that. I was discussing The Orange Box (Half Life 2 compilation) with a friend via IM.

I had just noticed the count on the balloon that pops up with Spiderguard that shows how many virus records there are and figured there was quite a jump and then noticed Bunks post as I was on here at the time. I hadn't visited the Dr's analysis site yet to see how many and had roughly figured it was a couple thousand jump in my head and was going to hop over and check it out when I got done here but Bunk saved me the trip.

I checked out your info post when I first was setting up Dr Web, CSJ. Excellent post it was and helped me get it set up nicely. :thumb:

They've already added over 1000 today and their clock is 10 am when I post this. Excellent work I'd say since their "normal" amount is around 150-300 per day(unless Zdobnov is there)

They may need to slow down and look closer, I awoke this morning and upon checking my scheduled computer scan, it had flagged ccleaner and foobar 2000 as trojan downloaders. WTF

dont thank me, but the good analyists at drweb for their speedy fix.

they have come with todays updates, so someone made a mistake there in the first place, lets not forget that.

hopefully, there isnt anymore from today.

I did submit them as FP's but have not checked to see if the had been fixed.
Glad they have been. That was quick.

ive only just sent in the foobar one, it shouldnt be long if it is still detected.

it didnt take them long to fix the ccleaner one that i sent in though, just 44 minutes.

Looks like DrWeb may overtake Avira as the King of FPs soon.

That's hard to answer or defend against, in part because there may be sittings differences. Avira have varying hueriatics and Dr Web does not. However, Dr Web has always been up there in FPs due to it's (too) strong hueristics.

That's not the issue at all. Even with its heuristics at the highest setting it seems Avira is hard-pressed to match DrWeb.

The nature of Avira's FPs come mostly in form of miscellaneous, less well-known software components, some grayware, foreign non-English programs etc that are usually more annoying than damaging. Case in point: I was helping a friend clean up her infected computer a few days ago using CureIt!, and when we were chitchatting and I wasn't paying attention, DrWeb wiped out her HP printer drivers.

In any case, whacking foobar and CCleaner is way past the line, The FP rates of other vendors should give you an idea of what an acceptable baseline should be, and with this latest escapade DrWeb has just shot way past the wrong side of that baseline.

I'm just curious, what part of my post did you think wasn't agreeing with what you're saying? Seems to me that you are a little too adimit about this.

The part where you said it's hard to defend against or agree with. Maybe it's just me, but it doesn't seem that hard, at least from what I can see.

Heuristics are decent, not very strong, sometimes sensitive at the wrong spots. But decent.

I have just done a scan with dr.web and it picked up some items (flyout_fav.js) from the vista sidebar gadget "applauncher" as suspicious probably script virus.

Now i did find these on sunday after doing a scan with dr.web cure it and submited them to dr.web but as of yet i have not heard from them.

I would say that i am certain that they must be a false positive as kaspersky never picked them up and softpedia states that applauncher is 100% clean from spyware, adware, and virus.

dont feed the troll n8chavez

Tony: looks like Sergey has gone offline, im sure he will be in touch though regarding the problem you were having, as for the sidebar extension, it could still be riskware/unwanted program, some do label some as that.

It might be possible that they've just started receiving more samples because few russian ISPs and some ukrainian ISP started using the av-desk service. The amount of "av-desk workstations" is over 40000 according to statistics in their official av-desk site.

the ISP service is slowly becoming a revolution, once again... drweb thinks outside the box.

Dunno about their thinkings but surely creates more pressure on adding definitions/performing well detectionwise since we are now talking about big companies demanding security for their customers. Hopefully it benefits us too.

i just checked them myself and they drweb detected nothing, can you confirm they are no longer detected, both fixed within such a short time, same day.

its a shame big isp's such as bt dont give out av desk instead of norton.
im sure customers would be alot happier that way since most customers want antivirus programs that just work and dont slow them down.

Most ISP customers wouldn't know how to handle the FP that are frequent with Dr. Web. That's one reason they mostly give away mcafee or norton.

From prior experience, I already know that you're incapable of discussing such things in a mature manner and will insist on taking it personally, but I was simply stating some facts.
